Do You Want to Make a Difference? Volunteers Wanted!
May 16, 2010Do you want to make a difference in the local and/or wider community?
Are you passionate about social change?
Did you know that young people of black heritage make up less than 10% of the population in their age group yet up to 80% of the NEET (not in education or employment) cohort? They are more likely to be excluded from schools, more likely to end up socially excluded and less likely to meet a good and stable future?
Would you like to be involved in a project where we start from the beginning, building an organisation with an Afro-centric profile aimed at raising aspirations, maximising potential and creating opportunities for success for young and old alike?
We are looking for adults with a vested interest in changing the conditions and outlooks specifically, but not exclusively, for young black people and bring them back into the community. At the moment we are interested in hearing from people with or without formal qualifications and experience who would like to work with:
- PA and business administration
- Project management
- Marketing & PR
- Fund raising
- Business development and enterprise
- Book-keeping and finance
- Web design and IT solutions
- E-commerce
- Retail
- Teaching, mentoring, life coaching and counselling
- Youth and community work
- Customer service
- Strategic planning
- Performing and creative arts + new media
- Youth culture
As a volunteer you can work as much or as little as you like, from a few hours a month to a full-time position, and you will have the opportunity to choose from a range of volunteer placements. What we can offer:
- A unique opportunity to be a part of an exciting social enterprise with a vision to make a difference.
- Advanced Personal and Professional Development training.
- CPD (continuous professional development) activities, training and support.
- Opportunities to undertake a Level 2 and/or 3 qualification.
- Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT) training and qualifications.
- Careers advice and preparation for employment support.
- Travel expenses within reason.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you have been or what you have done. If you fit our profile and share our passion for helping people become more than they thought they ever would, we are interested in hearing from you.
If you are interested in joining us, please send us an e-mail (and a CV if you have one) to evalena@atkinsltd.co.uk What we would like to know is who you are, why you would like to volunteer for us and what you would like to work with. All applicants will receive an answer and interviews will be taking place over the next couple of weeks.
